The classes are designed to enable students develop conversational skill followed by reading and writing in Tamil. Instructors of Dhvani incorporate story narration in Tamil and re-enactment of stories by students in a participatory fashion. Tamil songs from folk to contemporary literature set to simple tune are introduced for students. The course structure evolves from the vocabulary of simple words to sentence formation in the spoken lingo. Word games are used to enhance the understanding of the vocabulary acquired. As the students gain proficiency in spoken Tamil, translation of English text is introduced. In summary, the Tamil class offered by Dhvani takes a holistic approach integrating various elements of the language in an interactive manner.
